Hi! I am a California certified massage therapist and yoga instructor. I am 32 years old and have had a yoga practice since I was 17 yrs old. Yoga has helped to free me of the social anxiety I used to have as well as helped me to truly understand and learn how to listen to what my body needs and wants. In my signature classes “Stretch n Flow” and “Yogage” I love incorporating my knowledge and passion of the body. In "Stretch n Flow" we focus on lengthening and strengthening targeted body parts. Each class will focus on 1-2 areas using foam rollers, fascia balls, straps, etc. In "Yogage" I combine restorative yoga with aromatherapy, hot towel therapy, and gentle touch massage in each pose. I look forward to having you in class!

I developed a passion for yoga after conventional rehab for my knee following ACL surgery wasn’t leading to the progress I had hoped for. Love was the result. Love for a physical practice, love for spiritual growth, but most of all love for myself. Initially getting back on the soccer field was my biggest priority- now, though I do still love soccer, I have a passion like I’ve never felt before. Excited for a newly found freedom and the opportunity to share my truth with the community. Creating an atmosphere of trust and compassion is my earnest intention. You can expect connection and kindness at any of my classes!

I found myself at my local Iyengar yoga studio in 2011 after a bad car accident that injured my cervical spine and the left side of my body. My physical body recovered in many ways, but what I didn’t expect was to also find healing and peace for my spirit as I began my journey of healing from trauma. Yoga has given me the gift of reconnecting with my whole being - body, soul, and spirit. It is now my privilege to hold space for others as they find reconnection and healing for their whole being.

When I’m not doing yoga, you can find me working with herbs, training in Muay Thai or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, snuggling with my hubby and pups, cooking for loved ones or reading a book.

My hope for every class I teach and every student I encounter is to create an atmosphere of safety and curiosity that allows the student to connect to a deeper sense of self. Students can expect to take a meditative look inward and tap into the breath.

The path of yoga developed over my academic and professional career but it wasn’t until early 2016 that I developed a practice of meditation. After 5 years in corporate advertising, I decided to pursue a freelance and consulting career in digital marketing and copywriting. During this period of transition, daily yoga and meditation helped me process, heal and see through times of doubt and fear.

Meditation is mindfulness in stillness. It honors our inner light, restores the patience in our mind and the strength in our soul.

For all that yoga and meditation has given me, I wanted to honor my practice by sharing its light and healing properties with others. So after practicing for over 8 years, I became a RYT-200 Yoga Instructor in June 2017.

In my practice and in my teaching, I’m all about finding a balance and connection with our mind, body and spirit. I like to be challenged but find a release and opening from within. Expect to move in your body with a mindful connection to your breath to prepare the body to relax. We’ll lead into a seated or supported Shavasana pose to ease into a state of meditation. At each stage of meditation, I will guide you into a deeper state of relaxation through conscious breathing and visualization to cultivate mindfulness. With a conscious mind and relaxed state of being, we’ll then bring our mind and body back to center in a seated pose. Finding a moment of gratitude through meditating on the heart.

Katie

Katie has been practicing yoga for over 10 years and teaching for 8. She realized young the importance of this beautiful practice after a severe injury, followed by the almost immediate loss of her mother. After yoga became the catalyst in all areas of her healing process, she was inspired to get her teaching certification. After graduating from the White Lotus Yoga Foundation in 2012 with Ganga White & Tracey Rich, she decided to further her yoga teaching education and became certified in Therapeutic Yoga with Cheri Clampett & Arturo Peal in 2014. Since then, she’s discovered her true passion for sharing and guiding others into deep mind, body, and spirit healing. Katie’s classes always encourage you to find your own inner teacher, listening to your body's subtle messages and responding to them in a mindful way.

Therapeutic Yoga incorporates gentle and restorative yoga movements and postures, pranayama, essential oils, guided meditation, and hands-on healing. It’s a great practice for those looking to relieve stress, heal from an injury or illness, or simply find a way to reconnect with our bodies.

I am a native Californian who loves God and yoga (with yoga a close second). I have been practicing yoga for over 10 years. I am certified in Holy Yoga Instruction and registered as a 200-Hour yoga teacher, and certified Revelation Wellness Fitness Instructor, which is a cardio-based workout regimen. Outside of teaching yoga, I am also a credentialed Physical Education teacher. Only by the grace of God, I am a mother to my daughter, Sofie, and wife to my wonderful husband, Greg.

In my yoga teaching, I emphasize the connection between the mind, body, and spirit as they are united through the strength and power of Christ Jesus. My approach to teaching is rooted in Christian beliefs to create an authentic opportunity for anyone to experience God’s peace and presence as they move their bodies to encounter Him. A student can expect a gentle yoga practice centered on a biblical verse that serves as the purposeful meditation of the class.

All are sincerely welcomed with love and grace!

Skyla

Hi! My name is Skyla. I started practicing yoga 5 years ago and teaching 3 years ago. My personal goal and message I would like to share with anyone I flow with, is to allow your mind, body and soul to intersect and heal itself. I am a heavy believer in holistic medicine and having a holistic lifestyle. Understanding the only true way to heal or progress something is to consistently practice, make new habits, new patterns, and a refurbished lifestyle.

All of Amethyst’s yoga instructors are fully certified to instruct and guide you through the yogic practices offered here. Each instructor should make you feel comfortable and welcomed as soon as you walk through the door. Please be sure to share any personal injuries, pregnancies, or special requests with them so they can adjust the practice to best suit your needs.
